2004 Program Information

"The Adventures of Americans Living in Aberystwyth" by Martha Davies

Martha Davies and her young family lived in the UK for six marvelous years, four of which were spent in Aberystwyth, Wales.

From her store of splendid memories, Martha will share stories of everyday life in a Welsh town where she learned Welsh and "did up" an Edwardian home all while her children attended a Weslh-speaking school.

The family found that in Wales holidays were a bit different than back home. And there was St. David's Day to add to the calendar of celebrations!

Martha has served as a Trustee of the Welsh National Gymanfa Ganu Association and is a founding member of the Welsh Society of Western New England.  She is also a member of the Iowa Welsh Society and the St. David's Society of Minnesota.  In both those places she has been a resident, active member in the past. While in Wales she earned a certificate in Welsh as a Second Language from the University of Wales

Martha and her husband, Berwyn Jones (a native of Lincoln), live in Evergreen, Colorado summer and winter and in South Hadley Massachusetts spring and fall.
