SOCIAL LIFE IN THE PHILLIPINES |

Here's Harlan & the boys of the 13th Army Air Corps. Harlan is the guy on the lower left. And if you look carefully you'll see one of his pet monkeys on his knee. This one is Skeeter. One day a few of them went to town on a Phillipine taxi. |

Skeeter & Harlan spent all their times together and Harlan's buddy even accompanied him back to the US after the war--even though he had to give Skeeter up to US authorites when he arrived. I guess you just can't import animals even if you are friends! Word is that Skeeter ended up in a zoo in San Francisco. So how many other guys took in a monkey for a pet? It was apparently not unusual--especially when pets at home were common. |
