Helen James, the daughter of JT James, moved from Ohio to
Richardson County, Nebraska as a child. She was born in Ohio October 5, 1855. One day at a picnic she met her future husband Frederick George Mathias starting the link with the
Mathiases. She died June 25th, 1916 just nine years after her father's passing. She had three sons; John Henry Mathias, Roy Reynish Mathias, and Fredderick James Mathias. Helen and her husband also adopted a daughter Iva Linthecum
