Frederick George Mathias came to the United States from Pembrokeshire Wales in 1870. While he officially declared he would become a citizen of the United States, Frederick George remained a British Subject until he died. He had two
sisters, Anna Marie and Augusta Anna and one brother John Reynish Mathias. Frederick married Hellen James shortly
after he arrived in America and had three sons including Fredderick James Mathias and one adopted daughter, Iva.
His pioneer family became renowned in Southeastern Nebraska.
Frederick George is buried in Gage County Nebraska where
he farmed and raised horses most of his adult life.
George was the second son of a Congregational Church Minister, Henry Mathias [b.1810]
