  FREDDERICK JAMES⁴ MATHIAS (FREDRICK GEORGE³, HENRY², HENRY¹) was born September 23, 1893 in Liberty, NE, and died March 25, 1978 in Beatrice, NE (Lutheran Hospital)¹.  He married LULA EMMA THOMAS October 4, 1911 in Pawnee City, NE², daughter of JOSEPH THOMAS and ALMA VAUGHN.

Fred went to Wales when he was 14 and visited his Auntie Gus (Augusta) .  One day while walking with her in town, Auntie Gus said to him "..here comes a rich lady...you must bow to her." Freddie replied " I'll be darned if I'll bow to her!" Cheeky!

It is believed that Fred was visiting Wales because of an illness on his father's (Frederick George Mathias) side of the family. This means he spent much of his time near Wolfsdale, Wales in Pembrokeshire.
